Need some resource materials? Before SAGA, there was FASERIP. Classic Marvel Superheroes (MSH), aka "the FASERIP system," was a role playing game set in the Marvel Universe first published by TSR under license from Marvel Comics in 1984.
It is actually going to be two games in one that I will switch between at the conclusion of story arcs. Game 1) A DC Universe Justice League game focusing primarily on the main Justice League characters, such as Batman, Superman, Shazam, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, etc. Game 2) An urban fantasy game using the FASERIP Human(ish) rules.

The original Marvel FASERIP was awesome. Quick and easy combat. Felt very much like a superhero game. One of my favorite parts was rolling characters using the Ultimate Powers book. You'd roll these random origins, weaknesses and powers then you had to develop a background story to explain them.

DC Heroes (1985), by Mayfair Games was a point-based game based on the characters of the DC Universe, such as Superman and Wonder Woman. Like Marvel Super Heroes , it primarily assumed you would be using published DC characters, but had a fairly robust system for defining characters both original and converted.

3/8/2019 · My favorite and recommended method is to generate a shit-ton of random characters, pick out of the pile the ones that seem most suitable for the campaign (in terms of tone, power level, "doesn't have solely aquatic powers when the game is set in a desert city," etc.), and the rest can be villains or other heroes or whatever.
